Writing I did about my Grandmother

Several years ago I wrote a very short book about my Grandmother, my Gram. It was never published, it was only for my family. Yet wanted to share some of it here for others to see and think about their grandmothers too. Here is a poem inspired by her and after the poem, there is a question for you.

"Enfolded in arms so securely

Held to a chest so vast

Hearts beating softly

Their breathing

Coming together in rhythm

Murmurs of comfort and bits of song

I watch as she holds my child this way, and a part of me remembers when I was the one she held with such care and love"

Did you have a Grandmother or other family member who was born in a different era? If so, talk with the younger members of your family about that woman. Think of the many ways her life was different than ours. My Grandmother was born in 1889. Think of all the things she witnessed in her long lifetime. She gave her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren so much love and attention. Although she is gone, I will always remember and love her. A piece of her love will always be in the world.

Thankful For Many Things

Here in the US, Thanksgiving is just around the corner and I'm thankful for much this year. My immediate family and I are all well. Weather has stabilized and is beautiful. I feel more confident and encouraged about 2026. The new book I've been writing is almost done; hope to have it to you soon.

Remind yourself that no matter what, there is always something to be grateful for. Even if it is only one small thing for you., be grateful.

Fall and a peak at my new book coming by year end or early January

Yes it's October, fall is definitely here! I've been busy writing and I'll include below a short snippet of the new book.

"In an earlier book of mine, Change, It’s a Constant I wrote of many changes then. Looking back on that it seems almost nothing compared to 2025. So 2025 brought even stronger storms, earthquakes, fires like none before. Upheaval conditions around the world, wars, famine. Here in the United States we had a new president who has brought about tremendous changes also.

Yet before we get too bogged down in all the chaos and gloom I’ll remind us all there is a surging of remembering who and what we as human beings truly are"

Having a Taste of Fall Coming-Almost September

Today I went to a coffee shop I haven't been to in a while. It's on a lake and the day was so beautiful, autumn in the air! After almost finishing my coffee and biscotti, I went outside and discovered a sort of patio with some tables and chairs mostly in the shade and chatted a bit with two women there before headed on for my day. Hope wherever you are and whatever you're doing that you remember to take a few minutes to enjoy something new.
